Zapping The Blogauto Megane e tech review
There was a time when the Alfa Romeo 4-door sports saloon was entitled to its station wagon: the 156 and 159 were in fact available in SW “Sport Wagon” versions and, even if they did not have the load record on board, the the less they won the palm of style. Better still, the 156 SW was entitled to its radical GTA version in 2001, with the famous V6 Busso 3.2 l atmospheric 24 valves totaling 250 horsepower. An ultra-sporty station wagon unique in the history of the Biscione.
The Quiet Germans
When Alfa Romeo finally revived a beautiful sports sedan with the Giulia in 2016, many expected to see the SW version arrive, especially in the Quadrifoglio variant, but the manufacturer decided in 2017, considering that the market was no longer as buoyant and that customers looking for trunks would go to SUVs, knowing that the Stelvio was coming at that time. Except that, for the image, in particular sporty and exclusive, the tradition and also to acquire a more extensive range able to compete with the Germanic premium – the declared target – a Giulia break would not have done the job. The ultimately restricted sales of the Giulia seem to have proven the decision makers of the time wrong. Admittedly, the segment was battered by the SUV frenzy, but the Germanic premium continued to offer them (we know how much the RS4 Avant contributed enormously to establishing Audi’s sporty image in the 90s) and BMW has ended up resolving to release an M3 Touring!
A very nasty break
The Instagram account 2NCS offered in synthetic video an interpretation of a hypothetical Giulia SW QV, certainly capable of challenging cars of the caliber of the Audi RS 4 Avant and the BMW M3 Touring on equal footing. The 3D rendering is quite stunning. The front headlights are based on the facelifted Giulia and in fact use the same angular layout inspired by the Tonale, while the bumpers seem to evolve towards those of the more powerful Giulia GTA and GTAm.
The rear lights, on the other hand, differ from those of the facelift, as here too they feature graphics inspired by the new Alfa Romeo C-SUV. The sportiness of the rear is underlined by the spoiler and the diffuser, but the roofline is perhaps not plunging enough for our taste, perhaps giving a look a little too “lowered SUV” at the rear. Nevertheless, it sends heavy!
If a definitive line has been drawn on a Giulia SW for the current generation, which has entered its second phase, many hope that with the arrival of the new generation of Giulia between 2025 and 2026 there will also be room for an Alfa Romeo Giulia SW QV. But if that’s the case, Alfists will no doubt be plagued by another problem: that of a 100% electrified Alfa that makes no noise…
To sum up
The 2NCS Instagram account offers a high-quality synthetic rendering of a fictional Alfa Romeo Giulia QV station wagon, which would have been able to compete with Audi’s RS Avant and the M3 Touring that BMW is finally producing after having been fantasizing for decades. the “bimmers”. So, will the Alfis only have their eyes to cry on?
