A few minutes after Monaco, ASVEL also validated its ticket to the final of the French Men’s Basketball Cup in favor of a success over Strasbourg (85-69) and will try to win the trophy for the tenth time.
ASVEL can believe in a tenth Coupe de France in its history. TJ Parker’s players have made an appointment for April 22 at the Accor Arena after their success over Strasbourg in the second semi-final. On the floor of the Arena Loire de Trélazé, which hosted the Top 8 of the competition this weekend, the Villeurbannais quickly marked their territory. Youssoupha Fall’s teammates (16 points, 13 rebounds) handed SIG a 16-0 to fly off the scoreboard after just seven minutes.
The Strasbourgers tried to respond but only came closer to thirteen units after the first ten minutes. The Alsatian response was more intense in a second quarter which had little in common with the first. Led by Marcus Keene (20 points, 5 assists), Strasbourg went 20-6 in just over six minutes at ASVEL.
A new final awaits us! ✅

ASVEL has been patient
A series that allowed the SIG to take control for a length. The end of the first half saw the two teams respond and a final free throw from Ike Udanoh (5 points) allowed SIG to take the lead with a head start. An ascendant that Luca Banchi’s players were able to defend at the start of the third quarter but never exceeded a four-point lead. ASVEL, always in contact, waited for the right moment to strike.
A 9-1 at the end of these ten minutes allowed the Villeurbannais to start the last quarter with a lead of seven points. President Tony Parker’s players seriously raised their voices to definitely make the difference in the last ten minutes. In the end, ASVEL wins by sixteen lengths (85-69) and joins Monaco for a Coupe de France final that will look like the Euroleague in the capital.
