One year after its first deployment, the launch of DiaLog is official. Initiated in March 2022, the Ministry of Transport system has been operational since 1er March 2023. Its objective is to facilitate and secure the circulation of heavy goods vehicles in France, with a view to respecting the challenges of ecological transition.
Concretely, DiaLog is a national database. This collects all the information contained in the traffic orders applying to heavy goods vehicles. This data is digitized and integrated into the navigation tools used daily by drivers. Objective: to enable them to take “adapted itineraries“.
Sustainability issues
DiaLog must “guarantee the safety of road users as well as the sustainability of transport infrastructure“, specifies the government. In addition to drivers, the system is also intended for road managers. It should help them diagnose problems of access to their territory for heavy goods vehicles and thus improve logistics.
Over the past 12 months, DiaLog has integrated contributions from road network management authorities, such as Savenay (44) and Rennes (35), and digital services and players such as TomTom, Here, Waze and Apple. The device will be gradually enriched with new functionalities.
It will already be highlighted at the SITL, from January 28 to 30 (Paris, Porte de Versailles). In the meantime, the territories wishing to take part in the tests in an operational situation can already register on the site of the national database.
