The draw for the Basketball Champions League took place on Thursday, and the three French teams (Dijon, Strasbourg and Limoges) therefore know the three teams they will face in the group stage.
On Wednesday, the organizers of the Basketball Champions League announced that Strasbourg was replacing Pau-Lacq-Orthez, in the grip of major financial difficulties and excluded from Betclic Elite next season (subject to the various appeals), in the group stage of the 2022-23 financial year. This Thursday, the draw for this group stage took place and the SIG, but also Limoges and Dijon, the two other qualified French clubs, are therefore fixed on their fate, and it is a priori the CSP which comes out the worst. In group A, Strasbourg, quarter-finalist of the French championship, will be opposed to the quarter-finalist of the Hungarian championship, Falco Szombathely, to the 10th of the Spanish championship, Murcia, and to the winner of the qualifying tournament 1. In Group F, Limoges, quarter-finalists of Betclic Elite, will challenge the Spaniards of Manresa, finalists of the Champions League 2022 and quarter-finalists of La LigaVEF Riga, champion of the Latvia-Estonia League, and the winner of the qualifying tournament 3. Finally, Dijon, semi-finalist of the French championship, will be opposed to the semi-finalist of the Italian championship, Sassari, at PAOK Salonica, 9th in the Greek championship, and the winner of the qualifying tournament 2. Tenerife, the defending champion, was placed in group H, with Vilnius, Peristeri and Bnei Herzliya.

Kick-off early October
The regular season will begin on October 4. The group winners will advance directly to the round of 16, while the second and third-placed teams will go through Play-In series, which will be played in January 2023. The round of 16 will consist of four groups of four teams. The top two will advance to the best-of-three quarter-final series, and the season will conclude with a Final Four scheduled for May 12-14. Created in 2016, the Basketball Champions League has never crowned a French club in the first six editions, but Monaco made the final in 2018, Monaco and Dijon finished third in 2017 and 2020, and Strasbourg finished fourth in 2021.
