Nissan has just stopped manufacturing the eNV200 electric van in Spain. More compact and based on the new electric Renault Kangoo, its successor will be assembled in France.
Assembled since 2014 in Barcelona, the Nissan e-NV200 is now a thing of the past. Produced in some 49,000 copies, the electric utility of the Japanese brand is now discontinued. A decision which follows the announcement of the closure of the site, which occurred in mid-2020.
The Townstar as successor
If we still do not know what will happen to the Barcelona site of Nissan, still looking for a buyer, Nissan does not, however, draw a cross on the utility. Assembled in Maubeuge, on the same production lines as the Renault Kangoo, the Nissan Townstar will succeed the e-NV200 in a more compact segment.
Based on the same platform as the new Kangoo and the Mercedes eCitan, the Townstar will carry a 44 kWh battery offering a range of up to 275 km in the WLTP cycle. Its arrival on the market is scheduled for 2022.
