Since 2016, the FLO group has entrusted the management of internal training for its FLO Academy to the Consoptima training center. Objective: to adapt these courses to changes in transport for the drivers of the 110 companies in this group. After developing qualifying classroom or online training, Consoptima has digitized these training courses.
FLO Academy: benefits for drivers
Collected and launched since April 2021 in the My FLOAC application, these sessions allow drivers to follow interactive lessons from their on-board computer or smartphone. These courses combine videos, quizzes and MCQs on the AppStore or Google Play applications. Drivers thus train at their own pace, validating and consolidating their knowledge. And they improve their performance and their wages when their company has provided incentives for reductions in consumption or the number of accidents. According to Consoptima, daily eco-driving reducing fuel consumption by 2 l/100 km would save 922 euros per year and per driver.

Attractive career paths
“The company also wins in terms of its CO emissions2, a subject to which shippers are increasingly sensitive, adds Stéphane Bojko, director of Transports Bojko. Trained drivers are also more open to retrofitting and adapt better to alternative energy vehicles. Certain qualifying training courses giving rise to internal promotions, drivers can also develop professionally. Thus, in my company, one out of three operators is a former driver. Some have even become supervisors. This prospect of professional development within the framework of a career plan attracts young people. For them, being a driver is no longer inevitable,” continues Stéphane Bojko.

A shortage of drivers stemmed
At Peixoto et Fils, Frédéric Peixoto has no longer experienced a lack of drivers since he trained apprentices with Pole Emploi. “As I develop my drivers towards sedentary positions of operator, dock attendant and even branch manager when they ask me to, I attract nearly 50% of the drivers I train, underlines this manager. Now, if I’m looking for drivers, it’s because my business is growing. »
At Transports Houtch, Alain Houtch observes that continuous training limits turnover and ensures natural renewal. “Some drivers spend their entire career with us and we often train the children of our drivers, sometimes up to the third generation,” concludes this co-director.
