Davis Cup organizers have unveiled the hats for the group stage draw to be held on March 29.
Qualified for the group stage of the Davis Cup thanks to its victory in Hungary on the score of 3-2 during the qualifications at the beginning of February, the French team knows a little about the rest of its course this season. The draw for the group stage will be held on Wednesday March 29 in Malaga, and the organizers revealed this Friday the composition of the hats for this draw, determined according to the results of the last few years (France is eleventh in the ranking of nations ).
The Blues have been placed in pot 3, along with the United States, Sweden and the Czech Republic, teams they are therefore sure not to face between September 12 and 17. Not playing the Americans of the new captain Bob Bryan is rather good news, given the beautiful current American generation (Fritz, Paul, Tiafoe, Korda…). On the other hand, the men of Sébastien Grosjean are guaranteed to play a team of hat 1, namely the Canadian defending champions, Australia, Spain or Croatia, and that will necessarily be a difficult task.
The Blues have been aiming for a first quarter since 2018
As has been the case since 2021, this group stage will take place in several different cities, which will be revealed during the draw. This group stage will see four groups from four countries compete against each other. The first two will qualify for the quarter-finals. The final phase will take place from November 21 to 26 in Malaga. Last year, the Blues failed to make it past the group stage, finishing third in the group behind Germany and Australia. Will they finally be able to see the quarters again for the first time since 2018?
