In 2023, the manufacturer will improve the energy efficiency of its models while reducing their environmental footprint. Engine optimisation, a new gearbox or even the Fuel Eco+ pack, the 2023 Renault Trucks D, D Wide and C 2.3 m reduce fuel consumption and CO emissions by up to 10%2 associated.
Deliveries in congested city centers, stress related to the safety of road users and loading or even maintaining productivity, the daily life of drivers operating in an urban environment can be challenging. Renault Trucks makes every effort to facilitate their mission and increase their performance as well as that of the vehicle.
Up to 10% reduction in fuel consumption and CO emissions2 for Renault Trucks D Wide and C 2.3 m
In their 2023 model year, the Renault Trucks D Wide and C 2.3 m are fitted with the new DE11 engine. This engine incorporates the patented Wave Piston technology which, by redirecting the flames inside the combustion bowl, allows better use of the available oxygen and therefore better combustion. New injectors with improved precision also equip this engine. For better performance, Renault Trucks has also worked to reduce friction losses: the connecting rods, pistons and crankshaft have been redesigned and crankcase gas management has been optimized. A new high-performance ball-bearing turbocharger with improved response time and a variable-flow oil pump combined with low-viscosity oil have also been developed. Renault Trucks has also opted for an optimized post-processing system and a new engine computer.
The Renault Trucks D Wide and C 2.3 m are also fitted with an improved Optidriver robotised gearbox. As an option, the Eco mode allows a further reduction in fuel consumption.
Finally, 5% additional fuel savings can be observed with the Fuel Eco+ Pack, including a roof deflector, side deflectors, a controlled air compressor and automatic engine shutdown after three minutes.
The combination of all these technologies allows fuel savings of 10% compared to the previous generation of Renault Trucks D Wide and C 2.3 m.
Renault Trucks D: new driveline and new Optishift automatic gearbox
Renault Trucks D equipped with 5 and 8 liter engines are fitted with a new 8-speed gearbox, called Optishift. Fully automatic, Optishift offers superior ride comfort with improved low-speed maneuverability and increased fuel efficiency. The new Optishift automatic gearbox is available as an option on the Renault Trucks D 4×4. Also available as an option is Eco mode, which further reduces fuel consumption.
Finally, an additional gain in consumption will be provided with the Fuel Eco+ Pack.
The combination of all these technologies allows fuel savings of 9% compared to the previous generation of the Renault Trucks D.
Improved safety and comfort on board
At the center of the manufacturer’s concerns, driver comfort has also been improved on the Renault Trucks distribution range.
For increased safety, the Renault Trucks D, D Wide and C 2.3 m are equipped with the BirdView system: four cameras placed outside the vehicle offer a panoramic view in real time on a 7” LCD screen. The driver thus has a complete view of the surrounding area in a single image and without blind spots, reducing the risk of collision.
For perfect visual comfort and life on board, the interior harmony of the Renault Trucks D, D Wide and C 2.3 m has been redesigned. The seats, berths and bench seats are upholstered in a new fabric, in keeping with the new cabin décor, and the control buttons feature a new white backlight.
Adapted services for total control of operating costs
To enable hauliers to increase their profitability by reducing their operating costs, vehicles can be accompanied by a subscription to Optifleet, the Renault Trucks real-time fleet monitoring and management tool.
In practice, Optifleet makes it possible to optimize rounds, in terms of times and distances travelled, thanks to real-time monitoring of deliveries – Map module.
The tool also offers the possibility of monitoring the energy consumption of vehicles – Check module – and integrates the Ecoscore functionality, which allows remote monitoring of technical data by driver (fuel consumption, percentage of time spent idling, number of pressing the brake pedal, etc.). This is to optimize fuel consumption and reduce CO emissions2 by analyzing the performance of drivers and identifying those among them who should receive training in the precepts of rational driving.
Finally, Renault Trucks supports its vehicles with tailor-made Start & Drive maintenance contracts, allowing hauliers to maximize the availability of their vehicles and manage their budget with complete peace of mind.
