The Volvo Trucks brand carrier selected by GEFCO is responsible for a daily distribution round to customers in the Rouen metropolitan area
Aiming to assess the use and autonomy of an electric motor in a mixed urban and peri-urban environment, the test is based on daily rounds of approximately 150 km. Every evening, the truck batteries are recharged on the site of the GEFCO agency in Rouen. A complete evaluation based on the telematics data collected during the experiment will be carried out during the summer.
For more than two years, GEFCO France has been experimenting with alternative fuels and modes of transport to guide its choices in terms of solutions with lower CO emissions.2 and meet the expectations of its customers in terms of more sustainable logistics. GEFCO has thus tested liquefied natural gas as well as compressed natural gas, and recently launched the evaluation of a biodiesel fuel in Hauts-de-France. For its deliveries in the Lille metropolitan area, GEFCO already uses trucks running on biogas.
These various GEFCO France initiatives echo the overall reflection that the Group is carrying out as part of its ESG practices on the actions to be implemented and possible alternative energy solutions for a more sustainable logistics sector. In particular, GEFCO France is continuing its environmental commitment within the framework of the ADEME EVcom system, aimed at limiting, directly or indirectly, the environmental impacts of road freight transport activities, and the “Objective CO2 », including the implementation of actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its finished vehicle logistics activities.
