Billed as the “ first hydrogen infrastructure between Belgium and France », this network foreshadows the future European hydrogen backbone and would be located between the Valenciennes area, in France, and that of Mons, in Belgium. Spread over 70 kilometres, it would interconnect the two territories.
Call for expressions of interest
To validate the economic relevance of the project, GRTgaz and Fluxys launched an initial “market call”. Objective: to invite the actors, professionals of the sector and industrialists, to come forward by expressing their needs.
“This new partnership with Fluxys adds another stone to the construction of a European hydrogen market and the decarbonisation of our economy. In line with the territorial projects that we are already carrying out (mosaHYc, Rhyn, etc.), I am delighted with the cooperation with Fluxys around this joint cross-border project which will help to promote the hydrogen ecosystem and to boost the economy of the cross-border region of Valenciennes.” explains Thierry Trouvé, Managing Director of GRTgaz.
