H2-Industries has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) to build a waste-to-hydrogen plant in Port Said, Egypt.
Worth 3.8 billion euros, this 1 GW facility will be able to generate 300,000 tonnes of green hydrogen each year from organic waste and non-recyclable plastic.
The plant will eliminate 4 million tons of solid waste every year, which will be transported by hydrogen-powered trucks.
“When H2-Industries has completed its feasibility studies, we can sign the final contract. This is expected to take place in November, coinciding with COP 27 “, said Yehia Zaki, the president of the SCZONE.
Consisting of 4 industrial zones and 6 ports, the SCZONE recently signed other memorandums of understanding to develop green hydrogen and ammonia projects in the Ain Sokhna region.
