For two years, Transdev Normandie worked in collaboration with fourteen institutional, industrial and university players to convert an Iveco Crossway diesel coach to hydrogen. The first retrofitted coach in the world (ex-aequo with those of Ginhoux in Ardèche) now has an electric motor powered by a fuel cell that transforms hydrogen into electricity.
450 km range
The new NOMAD CAR HYDROGEN offers a range of up to 450 kilometers on full hydrogen. Rejecting only water vapour, it is also much quieter than before.
“ By contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and atmospheric pollutants, the NOMAD CAR HYDROGENE is a sustainable and zero-emission mobility solution, contributing to the mitigation of climate change and the protection of the quality of the air in the Normandy region, while paving the way for a new sector allowing the retrofitting and extension of heavy vehicles », declares Transdev in its press release.
Hydrogen replaces diesel between Rouen and Évreux
Presented on June 17, 2022, this new hydrogen bus will run between Rouen and Évreux. Beyond not emitting greenhouse gases and fine particles, the NOMAD CAR HYDROGEN avoids replacing a diesel vehicle that has been in existence for 11 years with a new one. Nothing is lost, everything is transformed: thanks to the €400,000 invested (compared to €750,000 for a new hydrogen bus), the Crossway should run for at least another 8 years.
