Zapping The Blogauto MG ZS EV test
We can not blame Hyundai for daring a different design. After an Ioniq 5 with sharp and angular features that smelled good of the 80s, the Korean manufacturer is expanding its Ioniq electric range with a sedan with a very aerodynamic profile.
A true sedan that doesn’t try to play SUVs, the IONIQ 6 offers a sleek design, dictated by aerodynamic performance, with an ultra-low drag coefficient of just 0.21. This value is made possible by a sloping front bonnet, automatic flush door handles, active front air vents, wheel track reducers and optional digital side mirrors. The rear end comes closest to the Prophecy concept, with a plunging roofline on the spoiler-like stern, topped by a small spoiler that bisects the rear window. To see for the visibility… The Ioniq6 offers a large wheelbase of 2.95 meters and short overhangs. Not necessarily the most harmonious, but the Cx speaks for itself.
Using Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), designers were able to stretch the interior, front and rear, to create ample legroom. The platform also allows for a completely flat floor. As is the current trend for premium electric vehicles, the interior is designed as a cocoon and a personal space focused on the experience. The user-centric interior architecture is exemplified by an ergonomic control unit that is centrally located to reduce distractions and promote safe and intuitive driving. The modular touchscreen dashboard incorporates a 12-inch full-touch infotainment screen and a 12-inch digital cluster. A bridge-style center console provides convenient and generous in-car storage.
Hyundai also highlights a sustainably designed interior. Depending on the finishes, we will thus have upholstery made of ecologically tanned leather, recycled polyester fabric for the seats and bio-sourced for the roof, dashboard trim in bio polyolefin thermoplastic -sourced, polyurethane paint derived from vegetable oils for the doors and carpet in recycled fishing nets.
For the technical and propulsion part, as well as for the prices, we will still have to wait…
to summarize
The South Korean manufacturer Hyundai continues to offer a different design with the large electrified sedan Ioniq6, which has very advanced aerodynamics inspired by the Prophecy concept and an interior designed with durable materials.
