KUANTIC provides its customers with a new version of its telematics unit; it is manufactured in Europe in the VALEO assembly plants. With this 4G box, KUANTIC anticipates by three years the end of 2G scheduled by Orange for 2025. The GP 8500 offers increased performance in terms of network coverage (4G), and advanced functions for security and vehicle fleet efficiency.
KUANTIC GP 8500 improves telematics experience
KUANTIC GP 8500 integrates the latest generation of QUECTEL 4G modem (EG912); it provides increased performance both in terms of computing power to broaden the scope of complex application possibilities, and network coverage to avoid dead zones.
The new box capitalizes on the functions of previous generations (dual CAN, accelerometer, RS 485 for refrigerated vehicles, tachograph interface) and integrates the options necessary for the various trades (RFID, Driver ID, Dallas key, Privacy button, temperature sensor , Bluetooth Low Energy and Fix Key for Car Sharing).
It offers multi-standard communication performance – GSM 4G / LTE / GPRS / EDGE -, optimizes consumption in standby mode, and has internal battery autonomy. It incorporates an accelerometer-gyroscope for measurements related to eco-driving.
The GP 8500 addresses both the original equipment OEM market such as, for example, the Utility range of the manufacturer Stellantis, and direct B2B customers, thanks to its specific functionalities.
” This new generation of box is a complete and scalable aftermarket technological solution. It complements the solutions offered as original equipment by manufacturers, and allows optimal management of fleets adapted to the businesses of our customers and to regulatory requirements. This is a major asset for our growth », explains Dominique DOUCET, CEO of KUANTIC.
A smooth transition of the customer base
The GP 8500 will definitely replace the current version end of 2022. To preserve the continuity of the fleet, the electrical and mechanical interfaces have remained the same as in the current generation, guaranteeing the plug and play removal/installation for equipped parks.
IOT applications dedicated to security and profitability
KUANTIC GP 8500 benefits from all the expertise of KUANTIC, linked to feedback from the field of more than 300,000 units put into circulation in utility, light and industrial vehicles.
KUANTIC GP 8500 makes it possible to aim for efficiency and reliability in fleet management. It opens up a vast field of applications by uploading multiple data streams to feed activity reports and alerts.
It contributes to the control of the TCO of vehicle fleets by optimizing operating costs: remote diagnosis of breakdowns (remote maintenance and alerts), preventive maintenance, monitoring of the charge of electric and hybrid vehicles, barrier to theft, prevention of misuse (outside contract).
With its driving quality indicators, it also makes it possible to democratize eco-driving and identify dangerous behavior at the wheel. It thus constitutes a central element of a risk prevention and eco-responsibility policy.
High level manufacturing standards
Assembled on VALEO assembly benches in Germany, the historic Valeo Peiker plant, the GP 8500 benefits from the highest quality standards in force in automotive production.
