By acquiring a 100% battery-powered Volvo FE, Luxo Bennes is a pioneer and becomes the first transport player to use an electric vehicle in the waste collection sector. This vehicle will be operated mainly in Greater Paris, for the collection of waste on construction sites.
The delivery of the first electric vehicle for Luxo Bennes took place on June 23, at their Massy site, in the presence of several of their customers, the bodybuilder HYVA and representatives of Volvo Trucks.
This Volvo FE equipped with a tipper with chain gantry is the first electric vehicle with this equipment in France. He will carry out professional waste collection missions on construction sites in the Paris region.
A charging solution with Autorecharge
Two terminals will be installed at Luxo Bennes. A 22 kW AC (Alternating Current) terminal for night-time charging operations and a DC 90 kW or DC 160 kW (Direct Current) terminal to maximize vehicle use.

FE ELECTRIC carrier 4×2
The Volvo FE Electric’s powertrain consists of two electric motors providing a power output of 400kW and torque of 850Nm mated to a 2-speed robotised gearbox.
The power is equivalent in comparison to 450 HP
Designed and engineered by Volvo, the 2-speed robotic clutchless gearbox provides uninterrupted power shifting with fully controlled, smooth power in all driving situations.
4 second generation batteries
A battery with a capacity of 66 kWh, with a usage range of 80%. So 52.8 kWh usable.
Total energy capacity: 265kWh for 4 batteries on the vehicle
2 charging modes are possible:
– Slow charging (at night), using Alternating Current, which allows the vehicle to be charged on industrial sites up to 22 kW of power.
– Fast charging (1h30 for charging from 0 to 100%), using a charger delivering Direct Current which can charge vehicles up to 150kW of power.
About 200 km, depending on the cycles of use.
