Scandinavian manufacturer Polestar is present at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with a prototype copy of the future Polestar 5, a model for which the manufacturer has revealed new details including its power reaching some 884 hp.
The new Polestar 5, expected on the market in 2024, is one of the novelties expected from the Swedish manufacturer, whose Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 models (SUVs) will also be presented to the public in the next three years.
The Polestar 5, which takes the form of a sports sedan whose body sports lines inspired by those of the Precept concept unveiled in 2020, is built around an aluminum chassis and hosts an 800-volt architecture integrating two electric motors (one on each axis) producing a total of 884 hp and 900 Nm.
“The new powertrain we are working on will set a new benchmark for our high-performance cars,” says Jörg Brandscheid, Polestar R&D Manager. “The combination of state-of-the-art electric motors with advancements made around lightweight platforms, is leading to the development of stunning cars that are truly for drivers.”
The Polestar 5 prototype present at Goodwood via the “First glance” platform, will take to the track twice a day during the British meeting. The opportunity for fans of Polestar productions to appreciate its free acceleration as well as its silent operation.
