Porsche 911 Carrera, Subaru WRX, Nissan Skyline, Nissan 300ZX… These nuggets were found in the radioactive zone of Fukushima.
L’Fukushima nuclear accidentin Japan occurred on March 11, 2011 remains one of the most significant in history. This magnitude 9.1 earthquake and the tsunami that followed caused extensive damage to the nuclear power plant. These two natural disasters thus led to the spill of radioactive substances in the ocean.
The authorities had ordered the evacuation of establishments located within a radius of 20 km. 154,000 people had to leave their homes. Many of them were never able to return home.
Some places have become “ghostly” villages in which there are remarkable sports cars.
Fukushima, explored by videographer Bob Thissen
The videographer Bob Thissen, a specialist in the exploration of abandoned places, went to the Fukushima exclusion zone. He shared his adventure on his YouTube channel: Exploring the Unbeaten Path.
Of course, this area is still risky since radiation levels are still high in some places. The police have barricaded the most dangerous areas. Access to this perimeter is therefore strictly regulated.
After the Fukushima accident in 2011, nature took over and covered abandoned cars.

During his exploration, Bob Thissen discovered several abandoned sports cars including Japanese, European and American ones.
The nirvana of Japanese lovers
Of course, most of the visible vehicles are everyday models such as city cars, sedans or even minivans.
However, in this wild environment where the vegetation has become overabundant, one can find japanese sports. Notably :
- Nissan 300ZX
- Nissan Skyline GT-R R32
- Nissan Silvia
- Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII
- Subaru Impreza WRX
- Honda S2000
Europeans and Americans spotted
But among all these sports or luxury models found, there are not only Japanese. A few nuggets from Europe or the country of Uncle Sam are also part of the lot:
- Porsche 911 Carrera 4 type 964
- Mercedes S-Class type W220
- Several American from the 1960s to 1990s
Unfortunately, several vehicles were badly damaged by the tsunami. Most of these vehicles are therefore unusable.

If some vehicles have been looted, we doubt the possibility of exploiting the parts, because of the too high level of radiation of these.
