Located in the suburbs of Liverpool, the Vauxhall factory in Ellesmere Port will produce several electric utilities from the Stellantis group from the end of 2022.
In total, Stellantis will invest 117 million euros to transform the site with the support of the British government. Stellantis plans in particular to adapt the body shop and modernize the production tools. The establishment of a line dedicated to the assembly of battery packs is also on the program. An industrial reconversion that will make it possible to perpetuate the 1,000 direct jobs at the site, the future of which was at stake a few months ago.
The production of the first electric utility vehicles at the Ellesmere Port plant is expected for the end of 2022. The utility and passenger versions of four models of the group will be produced there: the Vauxhall Combo-e, the Opel Combo-e, the Peugeot e-Partner and the Citroën e-Berlingo. Designed on a common technical basis, these vehicles combine a 100 kW (136 hp) electric motor with a 50 kWh battery pack. In the WLTP cycle, the advertised autonomy is 280 kilometers.
