The new presidential mandate is an opportunity for the OTRE to continue to challenge the public authorities, not within the framework of an xth collection of campaign proposals but more by describing what the roadmap for road transport should be. over the next five years.
The health crisis has highlighted the decisive role of road transport companies, mostly SMEs, which criss-cross the country daily to ensure the continuity of the nation’s economic life. A first recognition was obtained in March 2022 in the resilience plan with the allocation of direct emergency aid of 400M euros to the profession, but this will not be enough to deal with the current crisis and for the business sustainability.
OTRE prioritizes three major areas:
– Ecological and energy transition: road hauliers must be at the heart of environmental policy,
– The image of our sector: an urgent need to boost the attractiveness of professions,
– The sovereignty and competitiveness of our sector: our VSEs and SMEs are resilient but they must be supported because they are weakened and their competitiveness is undermined.
This roadmap traces a possible path, for our decision-makers, of the road transport of tomorrow: vital, ecologically responsible, provider of employment and growth, and recognized and supported as such. Based on proven findings, it sets out OTRE’s vision and formulates 29 proposals to support tomorrow’s road transport sector, which is essential to the Nation.
Maintenance of urgent measures beyond July 31, 2022
While diesel fuel has once again exceeded the symbolic bar of €2 per litre, the findings are still just as alarming: the Profession remains very weakened by successive crises. The OTRE requests the maintenance and strengthening of the pump aid implemented since April 1, 2022 beyond July 31, 2022.
Failing this, and taking into account the Government’s desire to maintain more significant and more targeted fuel aid beyond July 31, 2022 for “high-volume individuals”, the OTRE requests the application of this measure to ” heavy-duty professionals” through the payment of a discount per liter of fuel directly managed by the Tax Administration through the application of a monthly reimbursement system based on the liters consumed during the previous month.
