The Estonian dislodges the Tunisian Ons Jabeur, beaten in the final by Elena Rybakina and who fell to fifth place in the standings. Caroline Garcia returns to the Top 50.
The double penalty for Ons Jabeur. Finalist for the first time in her career in a Grand Slam tournament, Saturday at Wimbledon, the Tunisian lost against Elena Rybakina. A defeat combined this Monday with the five places lost in the WTA rankings for Jabeur. Dauphine of Iga Swiatek before the start of the tournament, the Soussienne loses three places and drops to fifth position. Annett Kontaveit, out of the second round of this edition which awarded no points, climbs a notch and dislodges Jabeur from second place. At the same time, the Estonian finds a place she had discovered last June. Maria Sakkari completes the podium. The Greek wins two places.
Rybakina still 23rd, Garcia and Dodin make a leap
Paradox of this Wimbledon which would have had everything of an exhibition only if the prize money had not been maintained: Rybakina, crowned for the first time in her life in a Grand Slam tournament, at 23, retains this same 23rd place which she occupied before taking up residence in London. The heroine of this Wimbledon and ex-Russian player, however, would not have been able to play in the tournament if she had not been naturalized Kazakh in 2018. Reached the round of 16 for the second time in her life after her good run in 2017 , Caroline Garcia returns to the Top 50 on Monday, in 48th position (+7). Nice operation also for Océane Dodin, who climbs seven ranks (78th) while she was eliminated in her first match at Wimbledon like the following week at Contrexéville. Still number 1 in France and also eighth finalist in London, Alizé Cornet lost a place. The Niçoise appears this Monday in 38th place.
