On the occasion of its 60th anniversary, Sport Auto reviews the most iconic cars by decade since 1962. In this sixth, and final, part of our series: the years 2010-2020. Sports cars boost their performance through electrification. Technological fireworks in perspective.
Lamborghini Aventador (2011)
- Engine : V12
- bore : 6.5L
- Powerful : 700 hp
- Transmission : integral
- Maximum speed : 350 km/h
2011, the time for succession has come for the Murcielago. The replacement is called Aventador and is characterized by the fighter jet look of the Reventón. Intimidating. Thanks to a clever mix of electronic aids, the Aventador remains indeed playful while becoming reasonably accessible.
It nevertheless retains thearchitecture and savagery typical of large Lamboswith his 6.5l V12 atmo with overwhelming sound and an amazing robotic box of brutality.
Ferrari LaFerrari (2013)
- Engine : V12
- bore : 6.3L
- Powerful : 963 hp
- Transmission : propulsion
- Maximum speed : 360 km/h
A big Ferrari is always an event. After’Enzocomes in 2013 the LaFerrari. Its design hesitates between elegance and sportiness but don’t be stupidly spectacular. After admitting his simpleton-like name, no need to scream the 6.3 l V12 and its 963 hp to appreciate all the talent.
Nor even to understand the why and how of this first appearance ofhybridization aboard a Ferrari. Because it’s his balance which instinctively fascinates, thanks to a control of its weight made possible by scientists carbon fiber stacks.
This results in a direct touch of the road coupled with a very sharp steering for an imperial road behavior. And this efficiency, this agility place the pleasure at a new level, inaccessible to few competitors.

Alpine A110 (2017)
- Engine : 4 in line
- bore : 1.8L
- Powerful : 252 hp
- Transmission : propulsion
- Maximum speed : 250 km/h
Cock-a-doodle Doo : Alpine is back ! We had to wait many years, experience many disappointments, before this rebirth in 2017 thanks to the new A110. We could have been disappointed after such a long wait. It was quite the opposite.
Contrary to the trends of the time, she put everything on pleasure, by lightness and agility, refusing to yield to the sirens of spectacular figures (and artifices). The power ? Lap time? The essential is not there. But behind the wheel, the happiness is permanent.
McLaren Senna (2018)
- Engine : V8
- bore : 4 liters
- Powerful : 800 hp
- Transmission : propulsion
- Maximum speed : 335 km/h
She is capable of hitting the road. But it’s good on the track that it best expresses its immense potential. Radical, the word is weak to qualify the Senna. With 1,198 kg dry, it is a true featherweight. But above all, never has the air dictated the shape of a car so much.
The plastic is brutal, it’s a shame for the image, but exquisite on the track. 800 kg of downforce, it causes. To say that the Englishwoman is a circuit virtuoso would be an unfortunate understatement.
