Renault hasn’t forgotten the pros: the new generation of Kangoo comes with a 100% electric Van e-Tech version.
After the Citroën ë-berlingo and Peugeot e-Partner, it is the turn of the diamond brand to offer its offer of small electric utility vehicles. Presented a few weeks ago in its final version, the new Kangoo Van e-Tech perpetuates the career of the model born Kangoo ZE more than ten years ago. A few months before the launch, Renault reveals new details.
Two lengths
Initially available with a length of 4.49 m, the Kangoo Van e-Tech offers a loading volume of 3.9 m3, with 600 kg of payload. A long version will arrive later in the catalog with a cell of 4.9 m3 for 800 kg of load. Access will in any case be facilitated by the system “Open Sesame by Renault” without center post.
The new version of the electric Kangoo is based on a battery supplied by CATL with a capacity of 45 kWh. This is 1 kWh more compared to the 44 kWh announced in March. The WLTP autonomy is now more generous and climbs to 300 km on a single charge. To guarantee this autonomy in all weathers, the Kangoo is also equipped with a heat pump.
Optional 80 kW DC charging
On the mechanical side, the utility has a 122 hp (90 kW) engine for 245 Nm of torque, which seems quite sufficient for urban deliveries, although down from the 136 hp of the PSA duo. The three energy recovery modes associated with the Eco and Normal settings offer the Renault Kangoo Van e-Tech six driving modes.
Recharging is automatically entrusted to an 11 kW three-phase AC on-board charger. A 22 kW charger is also offered as an option, as is the 80 kW DC system, which recovers 170 km of range in 30 minutes. Renault specifies that in the latter case, the battery has a liquid cooling system.
The chargers and engines will be manufactured in the Cléon plant, while the Kangoo van e-Tech will be assembled in Maubeuge. Marketing will be launched in the spring of 2022.
