The number of flashes up 29% between 2021 and 2022
Police radars illuminated the territory of Greater Paris in 2022. According to figures provided by the prefecture, 2,010,465 flashes were recorded by the police last year, compared to 1,562,494 flashes in 2021. That is an increase of 29%!
Radars of Le Bourget and the A6B motorway on the podium
We do not yet know the details of the activity of the radars but “traditionally”, one of the most effective radars of Greater Paris is that located at Le Bourget, in Seine Saint-Denis, on the A1 motorway. Already more than 130,000 flashes had been recorded there in 2020.
Then in second place was the one located at the entrance to Paris, installed since 2017, at the start of the A6B motorway tunnel, with nearly 120,000 flashes.
From brightest radars “, we usually find that of Janvry (Essonne) on the A10, in the province-Paris direction, in place since 2007 and flashing vehicles exceeding 110 km / h.
Then, that of Briis-sous-Forge, on the A10, in the Paris-Chartres direction (110 km/h) as well as that located on the A10, in Massy, radar installed in the Paris-Chartres direction for overtaking 90 km/h.
Decline in deaths
According to Road Safety figures for 2022, around 12,600 road accidents were recorded in the area last year, resulting in more than 14,400 injuries and 100 deaths.
However, the number of people killed is lower than in 2021, when there were 134 deaths, 15,000 injuries and nearly 12,900 accidents.
“Among these deaths, there are, in 2022, 43 pedestrians, 4 cyclists, 31 users of motorized two-wheelers, 12 users of light vehicles, 8 users of motorized personal transport vehicles (EDPM) and 2 other deaths not fit. in these categories”, details the prefecture. In 2022 as in 2021, pedestrians paid the most for road safety.

It would still be interesting to also compare the traffic figures to really compare what is comparable. Let’s not forget that in 2021, the Covid had reduced traffic somewhat… and less traffic equals less flash…
Still, the number of speed cameras should continue to increase in France in 2023. Several hundred additional facilities will thus be installed in the coming months. To achieve nearly 5,600 installed in France.
