Last April, an order awarded the Crit’Air1 sticker to vehicles fueled with B100. This materializes the wish expressed in 2007 by Sébastien Voisin, manager of Transports Blondel-Voisin (Bosrobert, 27800). Today, 50 of its 100 Volvo Trucks run on the Oleo100.
“It is a non-hazardous and non-polluting fuel,” he reports. Delivering Avril’s Oleo100 in tank, I make my own supplies between two rounds and thus increase my turnover. As I can mix my flexible B100 with diesel, I did not experience the diesel shortage that occurred in Normandy. I will also be able to resell my second-hand trucks since they will run just as well on B100 as on diesel. Finally, the B100 has changed the image of my company. The first question from the customers I visit is no longer about prices, but about my use of the B100,” he explains.

B100: minor drawbacks
Sébastien Voisin also noted the weak points of the B100, but he manages. “The additional cost of the truck being low, my customers ask me to use the Oleo100 without financial compensation, he specifies. However, the consumption of B100 remains 3 to 5% higher than that of diesel. And if the maintenance is at the same cost as that of a diesel engine, it is twice as frequent. But I do not calculate the difference, ”continues this manager.
But only its Euro VI Step D Volvo Trucks are compatible with the B100. Sébastien Voisin will therefore have to renew my fleet until 2025 to run it at 90% on the B100. “Finally, my B100 heavyweights will remain Crit’Air 2 and will not be able to enter the ZFE-m. But that doesn’t affect me because my activities are in the countryside. If necessary, I will buy a Volvo B100 intended for these ZFE-m,” he continues.

B100 Crit’Air 1: the limits
On the other hand, Sébastien Voisin regrets that the administration limits the use of the B100. “Reserving its use for captive fleets prevents long-distance transport if it is not mixed with diesel for the return trip,” he explains. I have done this before and my vehicles engines have never had any problems. But it would be more effective to give the Crit’Air 1 sticker to all trucks consuming B100, regardless of the quantity, and to allow service stations like AS24 to distribute it, ”comments this manager. By evoking a reduction in diesel consumption and CO emissions2 at national scale.
« President Macron announced the Crit’Air 1 sticker for the B100 at 76and Congress of the National Federation of Farmers. It is therefore good for farmers to mass-produce rapeseed and that is what they will do if they are sure to sell it,” notes Sébastien Voisin. Already, the Avril group is planning 500,000 m3 of B100 for transport in 2025.
