France is experiencing a significant shortage of truck drivers estimated at 50,000 employees. Many factors explain this figure, such as working conditions, salary, but above all the lack of recognition of the profession, which have prompted some drivers to change lanes.
This is why Thierry Vanlembrouck, a transporter for more than 30 years, created in 2015 near the large seaport of Dunkirk the “DK Trucks Park”, a secure car park with many services such as clean showers and toilets, a laundry, a rest room equipped with distributors, televisions and table football or even a gym. At the start, the car park had a capacity of 170 spaces, today it has 590 spaces in order to meet the high demand. His wish is to offer more comfort to drivers passing through the region or during their travels.
Based on this experience, and wishing to commit more for the well-being of truck drivers and to improve the working conditions of the profession, Thierry Vanlembrouck has developed a new solution on a national scale: Trucks’nB, the Airbnb of truck parking. This new mobile application allows drivers to reserve a secure parking space near major roads with access to showers, toilets and many other services available depending on the site.
” Taking up the concept of the DK Trucks Park in Dunkirk, we wanted to develop a larger-scale solution, which could affect the whole territory. After noticing that many secure and available spaces already existed in companies located near major highways, I had the idea of giving them to truck drivers by offering them for reservation on an application. The Trucks’nB concept was born explains Thierry Vanlembrouck.
The application that connects road drivers and reception sites
Thanks to the Trucks’nB platform, hauliers, logisticians, distributors, landowners or business managers will now be able to make profitable their available spaces by renting them out on Trucks’nB.
How does it work for partners?
The mobile application, through a smart box, offers a reservation system, various means of secure payment, and access control to offer partners a completely autonomous service. Trucks’nB offers its partners the possibility of obtaining additional income without effort, while acting to improve the daily lives of truck drivers.
And for road drivers?
To take full advantage of the services during their rest periods, drivers simply have to download the Trucks’nB mobile application available on Apple and Play Store in order to reserve a parking space by indicating their license plate and choosing from the many means of payment made available by their transport company, such as the C2A fuel card, Eurowag, the Axxès electronic toll badge, Télépass, but also online accounts such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, or by bank card.
Trucks’nB values the profession of heavy goods vehicle drivers
” With Trucks’nB, we participate in the revaluation of the profession of heavy goods vehicle driver, by providing comfort in their daily lives, but also more safety when stationary. Thanks to the application, we allow them to take their breaks in peace, without worrying about the possible theft of their fuel or their goods. One of our first host sites is a construction company that is located in the North and offers eight parking spaces, in other words, anyone can become a host site! adds Thierry Vanlembrouck.
