The order was made following the signing by the two partners of a letter of intent to create the first zero-emission airline in the USA. The delivery of the 75 conversion kits is scheduled for 2025. The order also provides for the subsequent supply of 25 additional kits.
Under the agreement, Universal Hydrogen will provide hydrogen fueling services to the Connect Airlines fleet, which will provide similar or even better operating savings than hydrocarbon-powered aircraft.
An advantageous solution
“This order puts Connect Airlines at the forefront of realizing the goals of the Paris Agreement“said Paul Eremenko, co-founder and CEO of Universal Hydrogen.”To achieve this goal, we must convert almost all regional aircraft before 2030 and ensure that narrow-body aircraft designed after that date run on hydrogen.“
“This alliance is the fastest way to decarbonize our fleet“, says John Thomas, CEO of Connect Airlines. “It is economically affordable and will efficiently supply all airports in our network with hydrogen.”
