Since the launch of the Volta Zero in September 2020, Volta Trucks has come a long way, notably through a European roadshow meeting fleet operators and customers in France, Spain, Italy, Germany, England, the Netherlands and Sweden. Rich in lessons, these meetings made it possible to integrate customer needs into the development of vehicles to meet the concrete needs of the field. The resulting modifications have been incorporated into pilot fleet vehicles being produced at Coventry in the UK. These pre-series vehicles will be made available to a selection of customers before the summer of 2022 to be tested in real conditions. The start of series production is planned for the end of 2022 in Steyr, Austria.
In order to accelerate the growth of the company and to produce the pilot fleet of Volta Zero, several fundraisings were carried out for a total amount of 289 million euros.
Volta Trucks is deploying a city-by-city development strategy, initially focusing on London and Paris. Its objective is to create an innovative “Truck as a Service” model in each of the target cities. Truck as a Service will combine all elements of operating an electric truck, including financing, insurance, charging, maintenance service and servicing, into one monthly package, making the transition as seamless as possible for the fleet operator.
The company has just announced that the first “Volta Trucks Hub” will see the light of day in the coming months in Bonneuil-sur-Marne, south of Paris.
