ZeroAvia has just signed an agreement with MONTE, a zero-emission regional aircraft lessor. The two partners will offer aircraft leasing and financing solutions to enable operators to carry out clean flights.
As part of this partnership, MONTE will acquire from ZeroAvia, its exclusive supplier, 100 ZA600 power units. These will be installed on existing and new aircraft such as the Cessna Caravan, Dornier 228, DHC-6 Twin Otter and HAL-228.
Developed as part of Britain’s HyFlyer II project, the ZeroAvia-designed 600 kW ZA600 powerplant is intended for aircraft that will carry 5 to 20 passengers by 2024. This system uses hydrogen gas contained in tanks which fuels aircraft fuel cells, which generate energy by converting hydrogen into electricity.
A first in the world!
The two partners plan to re-equip their aircraft for customers from 2024. They will provide and subsidize maintenance and hydrogen supply solutions to support this project.
With this agreement, MONTE aims to become the world’s first carbon-neutral aircraft leasing company by 2027.
